01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

The generous toppings and petite rice portions are what stand out to some diners at Sushikan. Another visitor tried the premium nigiri and found the pieces generously topped and satisfying. The eight-piece Regular Nigiri costs 1,100 yen, while the Recommended Premium Nigiri is 2,000 yen for eight pieces, making it easy to choose according to appetite and budget.

For a meal centred on nigiri, you can also order individual pieces such as tuna, mackerel and simmered anago. The roll selection ranges from mackerel and shiso to tekka, pickled daikon and toro-taku, so you can put together a mix of familiar flavours and more distinctive combinations. Beyond nigiri and rolls, there are pressed and box sushi options such as battera and anago box sushi. They offer another way to sample different styles or finish a sushi meal on a different note.

There are also dishes to round out the meal beyond sushi. One diner who ordered anago tempura noted its substantial yet fluffy texture. The menu lists Anago Tempura for 1,000 yen, along with vegetable tempura and a mixed tempura platter. The same diner shared simmered sea bream collar with someone at the next seat. Other fish dishes include grilled yellowtail collar with salt and seasonal fish grilled with Saikyo miso; a shared plate or two could make a good start before moving on to the nigiri.

Small plates and drinks are available too. Draft Super Dry is 550 yen, and guests are directed to the whiteboard for the sake selection. One option is to begin with the house egg appetizer, then add rolls or nigiri that catch your eye. The restaurant is in Taishi, Nishinari Ward, Osaka City. It is closed on Mondays and open from 16 to 22:30 on Tuesdays through Saturdays, and from 16 to 21:30 on Sundays. Reservations are not accepted, and payment is cash only.
